While I usually pack a bikini for everyday I’m away, Fiji was a bit different. We were shooting a destinational video for Fiji Airways which meant I needed to choose one main bikini to wear in the film to keep continuity. I wanted something that looked good, worked under my clothes, and stayed on in and around waterfalls.
I wore Watson X Watson’s leopard-print bikini to death last summer, so when they offered me the same bikini in an amazing grey, black and white print to take to Fiji, it quickly became my new number one. Not only is the print a fresh take on monochrome, it’s also super unique. The print is from a photograph of the ocean at Tamarama Beach. I also took the Watson X Watson ‘Wave’ dress in an aqua version of the print that we shot at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa.
For a semi-skimpy bikini, this one stays on surprisingly well. I jumped off a waterfall in Taveuni that was way bigger than the one in these photos expecting the entire bikini to come off upon impact, but I didn’t even get a nipple slip. The same goes for this waterfall when I tried to get inside it so Michaela could take some creeper shots from the outside. I totally underestimated the force of the water and after almost drowning me on the way in, I realised this waterfall was not my friend.
Usually under a waterfall you can find a pocket of calm where the water falls over you and you get to experience its power from behind the wall of water. Not this waterfall. The only way it wanted me to experience it was directly onto my head. It was hectic all the way through, I searched for a break in the water but there was none. Not wanting to accept defeat I found a tiny ledge that fit half my foot and tried to climb up the rocks. How Michaela managed to get shots of me looking all chill, like I’m walking on water, I’ll never know.
I really needed to get out of the waterfall and the best way was to dive out, but I didn’t know deep the water was. Next minute I see my guide Solo (man) walking through the water with his hands in the air and his face completely underwater like some sort of mind-reading superhero to show me how deep it was. What a legend!

We visited Vuadomo Waterfall as guests of Koro Sun Resort in Savusavu. Our guide Solo is the head of activities (aka head of fun) at the resort and runs the day tours regularly.
How to get there:
The quickest and easiest way to get to Savusavu is fly direct from Nadi International Airport. The flight takes about an hour and if you manage to get a window seat, you’ll get an incredible aerial view of the islands the whole way there. We flew with Fiji Airways’ domestic airline Air Pacific. Details here.
Where to stay:
We stayed at the beautiful Koro Sun Resort who are famous for their incredible rainforest setting – so famous that an episode of The Bachellorette (USA) was shot there. We stayed in a three-bedroom villa on the edge of their rainforest lagoon for the first few nights which is perfect for families and groups. And then moved to the edge of the ocean to one of the most amazing rooms I’ve ever stayed in – their new edgewater bures. Details here.
