The island of Hawaii (Big Island) is unlike any other place on earth. Hard, black volcanic rock surrounds patches of lush, green palm trees like some sort of tropical oasis in a hardened lava desert. It’s a constant reminder of the island’s dramatic geologic past, where active volcanos continue to erupt and engulf the greenery.
On our way to see the sunset from the incredible Mauna Kea Summit (a dormant volcano that hasn’t erupted for over 4,600 years), we stopped on the side of the highway to shoot this black crochet Lisa Maree bikini against a striking backdrop of hardened black lava. You know how hot the sand can get in summer? Times that by about 100 and that’s how hot the ground was while we were shooting – I could actually feel the warmth through my Havaianas.
With its halter neckline and crochet details, we couldn’t have picked a better location to show off this unique bikini. The crochet is incredibly soft, super comfy and doubles as a cropped top. Beware though – it has a tendency reveal some pretty serious side boob from the front, but maybe that’s just me.
