Early one morning on Bawah Island, we wandered up the beach to this sandbar for one of the dreamiest sunrises I’ve ever seen. I’d been saving this black one-piece swimsuit by American swimwear designer Tori Praver specifically for this trip. The label was founded by model and mother, Tori Praver who creates incredible swimsuits in buttery soft fabrics. Her bikinis and one-pieces are designed to make the wearer feel like a million bucks. Plus, they do the most adorable kids swimsuits in matching fabrics to the womens collection, so you can coordinate with your mini-me.
I couldn’t have dreamed up a better spot for my swimsuit to make its maiden voyage than the warm tropical waters surrounding this Indonesian archipelago. As the sun made its first appearance on the horizon, I waded out into the ocean for the ultimate way to start the day. The sky started to light up in bright shades of orange, purple and pink, that eventually turned into soft pastel pinks as the sky started to turn blue.
What makes this one-piece so unique is its edgy cut-out design. From the back, it looks like a regular bikini with high-waisted bottoms. But from the front, this one-piece really comes into its own – take note swimwear designers, this is how you do cut-outs. While on paper a skimpy, Brazilian style, cut-out black one-piece swimsuit would be trashy, in reality it’s the most chic swimsuit I’ve ever owned. Paired with your favourite over-sized sunglasses (Celine’s in my case) and yellow gold jewellery, and you’ll be ready to channel your own private island vibes.
This Tori Praver swimsuit was shot on location at the incredible Bawah Island – a luxurious five star private eco island in Indonesia’s Anambas Archipelago.
