Cult swimwear label N.L.P Women made their runway debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) with one hell of a performance. With only a small collection to present, designer Nikki Lee Penny swapped models for professional dancers to highlight the sporty nature of her designs. Dancers took to the runway with a performance that could only be described as a mating ritual from Avatar meets some sort of Mad Max inspired post-apocalyptic world. It was awesome to see the swimwear on fit and healthy bodies, but with a laser light show, body paint and animalistic dancing, it was hard to focus on the actual collection. The pieces were quite similar to what we’re used to seeing from N.L.P Women, but there were some high-waisted bottoms, mesh fabrics and monogrammed logo placement thrown into the mix that were pretty cool.
The label seems to have ongoing issues keeping up with demand, so it will be interesting to see how quickly this collection sells out. It’s available for pre-order right now on Stylerunner.
