You’ve got to love a wrap dress that doubles as a cover-up. I picked this dress up while vacaying in Bodrum – it’s by Turkish brand Ipekyol. I love discovering local designers on my travels, especially ones that do resort wear this well. While I wore this Turkish resort wear throughout Europe, I didn’t get any photos of it. So when this trip to Bawah Island came up, I knew I had to pack it! With the hot and humid Indonesian weather, it was perfect for throwing on over a bikini (matching First Base string bikini of course) after a swim.
While love bikinis in all different styles, nothing beats a good triangle string bikini. One of my all-time favourites is this jewel-coloured bikini by Aussie label First Base. If you’ve been following my island adventures for a while, you might have seen this bikini on my travels across Thailand a few years back. I used to get all new bikinis for each destination I visited, and while I still add a few new swimsuits to the mix each trip, I’m trying to reduce my fashion consumption. While this particular style is sold out, First Base always have great bikinis that stand the test of time, including multiple trips across Asia!
My ideal island holiday is one where I get to wear a bikini 24/7. And with a swimsuit and cover-up being the dress code for Bawah Island, I was in tropical heaven. After drying off, we headed up to Bawah Island’s restaurant in the treetops for a late lunch. Even though it’s fine dining on the island, it’s perfectly acceptable to stroll in barefoot and sandy. This cover-up and string bikini was one of my favourite resort wear combinations to wear during our stay on Bawah Island. And the fact that they were extremely photogenic against the clear aqua ocean and stunning overwater villa was an added bonus.
This Turkish resort wear was shot on the incredible Bawah Island – a luxurious five star private eco island in Indonesia’s Anambas Archipelago.
