You’ve got to love a label that releases a new swimwear collection every few months. Just as we’re heading into winter here in Australia, Zimmermann has to go and tease us with a smoking hot lookbook for their Autumn/Winter 2011 Cruise Collection. If I wasn’t already in denial about the end of summer, I certainly am now. Shot on the impossibly white sand of Hyams Beach by Aussie photographer Roger Deckker, the campaign is much grittier than the glamorous and polished shoots we’re used to seeing from Zimmermann.
One of the first things I noticed about this collection was the leopard print. Usually when you see leopard print it’s bold, intense and demands attention. But not this time. The Zimmermann girls have muted the print, giving it an almost pastel look that actually works alongside the floral and graphic prints in the collection. Notice the mismatched bikini? Expect to see a whole lot more of this turning up on the beach. Last summer we saw a hint of this, but it was much safer with girls and designers mixing print with solid colour. If you’re not brave enough to pull combinations of prints together using your existing bikinis, I suggest you leave it to the professionals and pay our dear friends at Zimmermann a visit.
