When I wasn’t in front of the camera presenting the Topdeck web-series in Cambodia, I was taking photographs of the incredible Khmer people. It’s hard to comprehend what they went through with the Khmer Rouge only 40 years ago – every single person you meet has been affected by the genocide in some way. Yet there’s something about their spirit – an inner strength, a resilience – a sense of pride when they talk about their family and their country.
I’ve always loved shooting people with the Canon EF 50mm F/1.4, but since this trip I’ve been obsessed with the lens. It was perfect for these portraits and the Canon EOS 5D Mark III that I was lucky to have on loan from Canon Australia.
I hope these photos give you a glimpse into the spirit of the Cambodian people 🙂
